Executive Team
Craig Chambers, President & Chief Executive Officer, is a veteran of the advanced video security and management consulting industries. He has held various roles at global R&D firm SRI International, where he was a director in the company's technology management consulting business and managing director of the Security & Surveillance Group of SRI subsidiary Sarnoff Corporation. He served as president and chief operating officer of Sarnoff's Pyramid Vision spin-off, where he guided the commercialization of the company's intelligent video security products, leading to their acquisition by L-3 Communications. Previously, Mr. Chambers founded and led the Washington, DC regional office of e-business consultancy Viant Corporation. He holds a B.S. in Ocean Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. He served eight years as an officer in the United States Navy Submarine Force.
Nik Gagvani, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer & Vice
President of Engineering, is responsible for product
engineering, research and development initiatives for Cernium’s
award-winning products serving the video monitoring and verification
markets. Previously, Dr. Gagvani was Chief Engineer at Pyramid
Vision, where he managed a team that developed advanced surveillance
systems integrating fixed and mobile video with other sensors. He
has also led multiple R&D initiatives at Sarnoff Corporation
in the areas of computer graphics, distributed computing and
image processing. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from
Rutgers University and is a graduate of the prestigious Indian
Institute of Technology. He has been a speaker at various
industry events and has authored numerous articles.
Robert Latchford, Chief Financial Officer, oversees the day-to-day finance and administrative functions for Cernium and also leads all strategic financing activities. Mr. Latchford brings extensive experience in financial management, strategic corporate development, M&A and fundraising to Cernium’s senior management team. Before joining Cernium, Mr. Latchford served as Chief Financial Officer for the business intelligence professional services firm Claraview, Inc., and its spin-off technology development company Clarabridge, Inc. He has also held senior financial leadership positions with Biosynexus Incorporated, Pedestal Incorporated and Federal City Capital Advisors LLC. Mr. Latchford earned his B.A from Hamilton College and a M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
Philip Robertson, Vice President of Corporate Development, is a security industry expert with over 25 years of experience in the electronic security, access control and video surveillance sectors, in both manufacturing and integration roles. He has orchestrated multiple domestic and international partnerships in the physical security sector with leading companies such as Panasonic, JVC, Chugai Boyeki, Sears, AAFES and JCPenney. Mr. Robertson previously managed new product development and marketing programs for market leaders including Sensormatic, American Dynamics and Ivex and served as regional general manager for a systems integrator, Intervid. He is a US patent holder for the industry-leading SpeedDome system.
Helen Shepro, Vice President
of Marketing & Product Development, is responsible for product
development and subsequent go-to-market strategies, including revenue
generation programs, channel/partner support programs and media
communications. She brings over 18 years of management consulting
and strategic product development and marketing experience, developing
and implementing programs that utilize advanced technology solutions
for competitive disintermediation. She has served or advised both
multinational organizations and start up ventures alike including
the New York Stock Exchange, Dow Jones Telerate, Nextel Communications,
Varsity Group and the Museum Company. Ms. Shepro previously served
as chief marketing officer of Pyramid Vision, a Sarnoff Corporation
spin off, where she helped commercialize advanced video analytics
solutions for physical security. Ms. Shepro earned both B.A. and
M.B.A. degrees from the University of Virginia.
Aubrey Smoot, Vice President of
Business Development, is responsible
for developing strategic alliances for Cernium products outside
the traditional physical security market, including development
and distribution relationships in the IT and communications sectors.
He has more than 25 years of experience in executive management
and business development positions with both multinational organizations
and venture backed startups. Mr. Smoot previously oversaw business
development and channel sales at Cloakware and Secure Software.
He has also served in a number of management roles for IBM’s
software group (Rational Software), including America’s Technical
Sales Executive and ISSR Worldwide Services Operations Manager.
Mr. Smoot holds a M.S. in Technology Management from American University
and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Delaware.
Rick Sterrett, Vice President of Operations, oversees manufacturing, quality assurance, order fulfillment and delivery and technical support/customer service. Mr. Sterrett has more than 25 years of experience in the information technology industry, including healthcare, life sciences and manufacturing. Most recently, he served as chief operating officer for healthcare software firm eko systems, Inc., where he doubled revenues and restructured customer support operations. Previously, Mr. Sterrett was chief information and technology officer for BioRosettex, where he managed the creation and implementation of the biotech's IT infrastructure. He has also held leadership positions at Honeywell-POMS and IBM. Mr. Sterrett earned his M.S. and B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
